Buildix 2.0 out soon
Hoi folks,
I am happy to announce that there will be a new version of buildix available soon. Thanks to sarnacke from Thoughtworks who gave me a hint - apparantly I missed this somehow.
Without having it tested it looks quite interesting:
The biggest change is that Buildix is no longer a complete operating system image. It’s now simply a package to install on an Ubuntu system. This allows you more flexibility in looking after your server, both in terms of additional software and maintaining the Buildix suite …
For sure having up to date versions of all the tools is also quite important. Unfortunately for me it’s too late now I’ve already installed my debian and all the needed tools. Right now I am hazzling with the brandnew continous inspection tools - as they are still under development it is quite natural that not everything works as expected. Hehe - did’nt even know that it’s so easy to crash PHP

25 Jahre Commodore 64
Heute sinds 25 Jahre - bin ich schon so ein alter Sack ? Scheint so… irgendwie kommt mir das nicht so lange vor.
Der kleine Kasten hat eine Generation geprägt: Mit dem C-64 eröffnete Commodore vielen Jugendlichen den preisgünstigen Zugang zu einem leistungsstarken Computer - jedenfalls aus Sicht der 80er Jahre. In diesem Monat feiert der C-64 seinen 25. Geburtstag. Zeit für einen Rückblick…

Scheisse echt - 25 Jahre! Mir kommt es wie gestern vor das ich auf dem Boden im Flur einen 8 Meter langen Assembler Ausdruck “gedebuggt” habe. Das erfordert einen dicken Link auf Slay Radio - dem C64 Musik Sender. Wer es noch nicht kennt verpasst was - es gibt heute noch eine Riesen Community rund um den C64 und die Cover Songs lassen sich hören.
Wenn ich so zurück denke - ohne den C64 und auch Slay Radio das ich täglich zum coden höre wären die meisten meiner Projekte nicht entstanden. Ihr könnte euch also bei dem guten alten Commodore 64 bedanken für aktuelle Projekte wie z.B. OXID oder SwooDoo Ohne die alte Nackenrolle wäre nichts davon da. Und ich nicht dort wo ich heute stehe.

Using safari on MAC OS X using selenium
Hoi,
while setting up our new testing Machine ( a very old PowerPC with 466 Mhz ) I realized that it is not that easy to make Safari work using Selenium RC. With Michele from mayflower helping me we could make it work.
Here is the solution:
1. Use this patched Version of Selenium RC Snapshot with Safari and MAC OS X support ( it is the snapshot including the patch from here ).
2. Start Selenium using sudo
3. If you face any problems like “Please add the directory containing networksetup to your path” then you should check your disc under /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/
Contents/Support/networksetup - this directory should exist. If not - like on my old machine - you need to create a symlink to the correct directory - e.g.
“sudo ln -s networksetup-panther networksetup”
That’s it - I hope it helps I needed quite a few hours to figure this out.
Virenscanner - Werkzeug zur Computersabotage?
Wie ich eben auf Gulli gelesen habe, wurde ein Globalisierungskritiker vom BKA verwanzt. Dieser hat jedoch an seinem Fahrzeug die Wanze incl. Sender gefunden und sie auch gleich für einen guten Zweck versteigert.
Das BKA will nun sein “Eigentum” wieder haben und fordert die Herausgabe des Senders. Die Globalisierungskritiker sehen das etwas anders und sind der Meinung das es nicht mehr das Eigentum des BKA (Bundes) ist.
Hier stellt sich nun die Frage, wer bekommt bei einem Gerichtsverfahren Recht? Sollte der Bund gewinnen stellt sich auch mir die Frage, was passiert wenn ich mal Besuch vom Bundestrojaner bekomme und mein Virenscanner den Trojaner entfernt? Mache ich mich dann erst recht strafbar? Das wird sicher noch interessant.

Agile development platform on a disk
As I am asked frequently if there is a VMware image or something similar for Agile development I think it is time to point you to the most interesting release - buildix . As Martin Fowler is working at Thoughtworks I expect that this distribution should be good even though I never tried it myself. ( but I will - promised! )

Holiday is over…
So you might have wondered - why I was so quiet. I fact I was not 
- just offline. I had a quite good time in croatia but now I am really looking forward to be back in business. I don’t know what’s wrong with me - but two weeks of holiday seems to much - I was really bored and looking forward to come home … something is weird with me.. but that’s nothing new.
But anyway - as I learned, and I think it’s quite reasonable - I am a hologram anyway.
